Connect Ed/Mustang Messages 2023-2024

  • June 2, 2024

Good evening Mendenhall Families! This is Principal George Green with a few reminders for this week.

Our 8th grade promotion ceremonies will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 9:00 am for the Esarey, Masters, Mayhew, and Smith Team and at 12:00 pm for the Bustle, Felix, Lemon, and Williams Team.  Both ceremonies will take place in the main gym.

Attention 6th grade parents:  Please remember that the state of North Carolina requires all 7th graders to have 2 additional vaccines in order to attend 7th grade.  Call your health care provider to schedule your appointment and get a head start on next year.

If your child is planning to participate in a school sport next year, the summer is the perfect time to get those sports physicals out of the way.  Be sure to read up on the eligibility requirements to ensure that everything is good to go when students return.

And then there was five!  This Friday will conclude the end of the 2023-2024 academic school year.  A big THANK YOU to everyone for all that you do to support the school and our students!

As always, thank you for your continued support of Mendenhall Middle School, where we are, The Home of the Mustangs!

Good evening, Mendenhall Families!  This is Principal George Green with a few reminders concerning End of Grade assessments which start tomorrow.

Please remember that students will take their Math End of Grade/End of Course assessment this Thursday, Reading EOG on Friday, and 8th grade (only) Science EOG next Monday.  It is very important that students arrive at school by 8:15am each day during testing.  Students who arrive after the testing session has started will not be allowed to take their test until later next week.

We also need your help with cell phones.  During End of Grade assessments, students will not be allowed to have their cell phones, smart watches, or other personal electronic devices during the testing session.  They will have to turn them in to the teacher and they will be returned after the entire school has finished testing.  This allows students to do their best work and not feel rushed, as some classes may finish earlier than others.  Please help and support us by explaining this to them over the coming days.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Mendenhall Middle School, where we are, The Home of the Mustangs

Good evening Mendenhall Families!  This is Principal George Green with a few reminders for this week.

Thank you for making our Open House a huge success!  Our teachers and staff worked extremely hard in order to ensure that everything was ready for the return of students and families.

Monday, August 28th is the first day of school for students, and we look forward to seeing everyone’s return.  Doors will open at 8:05 am and we will begin to dismiss students around 3:00 pm to assist with the car rider traffic flow.  Speaking of traffic flow, please be patient as new parents and students learn the routine.  I promise the pace will pick up as we progress through the week.

There will be some changes to student schedules in order to make sure that we have class sizes balanced during the first 2 weeks of school. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

Attention 7th grade parents.  North Carolina state law requires all 7th grade students to have 2 additional vaccines by the 30th day of school each year.  Please ensure that your child has their TDAP and MCV vaccines by the end of September.  Reach out to your health care provider and schedule your appointment if needed.

Shortly following this message there will be an additional call that contains athletic tryout dates and times for our prospective student athletes.
