The Early/Middle College at GTCC High Point Admissions Process
How To Apply
All applications will be completed on-line. The applications will be available beginning March 13, 2019 at 5:30 pm. Applications will be available until 5:30 pm on April 5, 2019. Applications can be found at www.gcsnc.com, on the Magnet and Choice School (Magnet School Choice site) page. Information will also be available through GCS’s social media accounts.
Once the applications are available, please follow the steps below to complete the application.
Clicking on the link will take you to a Welcome Page where you will be asked to create a family account. Each family should create ONE family account for all the children in the household. Families will be required to provide a cell phone number or email address as part of the application process. Families may select an alternate language to complete the process.
Complete a separate application for each child who is applying for a magnet program. A list of available schools based on your attendance zone will appear. Select the schools that you wish to apply to and list them in order of preference. Read the Magnet Schools procedures carefully before completing the requested information. Once you submit the application, you may not make any further changes so fill in each area carefully.
What Information will I need to have available as I am completing the application?
* Mobile/cell phone number or email address
* Home address
* GCS Student ID number (same as student’s lunch number)
* Current school name
* School assignment by attendance zone for next year (use the School Assignment Locator if unsure)
* For some schools:
- Recommendations from teachers (not for Middle Colleges)
- Electronic copies of recent report cards, EOG/EOC test scores
- Parent/guardian education level and household income
* Students not currently enrolled in GCS may be asked to provide additional information.
Families will receive notification of magnet seat offers by May 22, 2019. Notification will be communicated by email or text according to the notification method selected when families set up their account. Families must accept, or decline offers by June 7, 2019. Information will come directly from GCS, please do not contact the schools directly.
Once a family has accepted an offer from a magnet school, they will receive a link to request transportation and an invitation from the school with an appointment to complete the enrollment and registration process.
