Hi there! I am starting my 13th year as a chemistry teacher at NGHS and my 18th year with Guilford County Schools. I previously taught at Grimsley High School. Prior to pursuing my childhood dream of being a teacher, I worked in the chemical industry for 14 yrs. as an R&D analytical chemist, environmental lab manager, and chemical manufacturing process health and safety manager. I have taught all levels of chemistry: Chemistry I, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry. I am also a passionate coach for our outstanding Science Olympiad team - 13 yrs! The best part of my job is working with and mentoring our terrific students. I love teaching and feel blessed every day to "pay it forward" in honor of the dedicated public school teachers who were my role models, mentors and inspiration.
I am originally from rural western Kentucky and the oldest of four girls. I was the first member of my family to graduate high school. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemistry and math from Murray State University (BS & MS) and the University of Mississippi (PhD). I have three grown children and three dogs. I am a lifelong learner with a fascination and curiosity of the "hows and whys" of our world. Learning something new every day is important to me. I love photography and spending time with my family. I currently live in Summerfield.
