Welcome to the Southwest Music Page - Our theme this year in the music room is CAMP CULLER!!! We have a camping word wall using music vocabulary, a camping music award and even a tent!!! My name is Sara Culler and I have been teaching at Southwest Elementary for 19 years. 2018 - 19 will be my 20th year at Southwest. I'm originally from Wisconsin. Go Badgers and Go Packers!! We perform two programs each year at Southwest Elementary.
A Greensboro Symphony Ensemble will be visiting our school in January for a performance for our 3rd and 4th graders before they go to the symphony concert in April. Fifth graders will be seeing an Opera in February. In March, six of our 5th graders will be representing Southwest Elementary at the All-County Chorus held at Smith High School.
I teach grades K - 5 and our national objectives for each grade are: Music Literacy 1: Apply the elements of music and musical techniques in order to sing and play music with accuracy and expression. Literacy 2: Interpret the sound and symbol systems of music. Literacy 3: Create music using a variety of sound and notational sources. Music Reponse 1: Understand the interacting elements to respond to music and music performances. Contextual Relevancy 1: Understand global, interdisciplinary, and 21st century connections with music.
