• Dear Parents and Students,

WELCOME to the art room! I’m excited that you have chosen art as your elective. I hope you enjoy and learn to love art as I do. Some information about myself, I have a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Art Education and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Art and Visual Culture. I had previously worked at Mendenhall Middle School, and Southwest Middle School as a long-term art substitute in High Point, NC, as well as Avery Middle School in Newland, NC. I worked in two art programs at Turchin Center for the Visual Arts in Boone, NC. I taught for a summer at Colegio Metodista in San Jose, Costa Rica.

For students, in order for our classroom to be successful, I need your assistance. It is my responsibility to ensure that each student has the opportunity to learn these valuable skills, therefore, following schools and classroom rules are paramount and is the responsibility of each student. I expect students to not lead or engage in any conduct that disrupts or mistreats others. Thank you to the students for demonstrating good manners. Thank you to parents and guardians for your support to the art department.

We are also excited about using ThinkPad in the art room! We will not be able to use them every day (especially when working with paint or clay) but we will be trying different apps. Please understand that the human body is part of art and we will do our best to shield young eyes from inappropriate images; however, the class may view images like David and Venus de Milo. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your art teacher.

Finally, the Art Department is always looking or needed materials. If you have any of the following and wish to contribute, please send the items with your student or drop the items off at the front office.
