Degrees and Certifications:
BA in Secondary French Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1992)
David Williams
Bonjour! I am the French Teacher here at HPC.
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Secondary French Education in 1992, and promptly spent the next 11 years teaching French and various other classes. After 11 years of coaching, teaching, and extracurricular dedication, I hung up the dry eraser for a few years. I spent some time as Mr. Mom and studying/working with technology. In November 2011, I arrived here at Central and feel like I have found a home back in the classroom. Until fall 2020, I taught all levels of French, and was the adviser for the French Club. In the fall of 2020, I took on the role of AP/IB coordinator, and I continue to teach IB French classes.
I have been married since 1992 to the luckiest woman on the planet, and I have two (mostly) wonderful daughters. They have grown up and flown the coop -- abandoning me just when they got really interesting. I enjoy the outdoors as long as it's not too hot, or too cold, or windy, or raining, or too much pollen in the air, or ... you get the idea. Actually, I probably like the *idea* of an active, outdoor lifestyle significantly more than the actual outdoors, which is full of things that will just ruin your whole day. Hiking and canoe/kayaking are two of my favorite outdoor pursuits, though almost every day is a day I would rather be at the beach. I like to pretend that I can take interesting photographs, and that I can prepare interesting meals. I read. I listen to (what is now) old music. I avoid yard work. I yearn to travel and explore.
