Welcome to first grade! I am looking forward to an exciting school year.
This is my 19th year teaching. I began my teaching career in Minnesota, where I taught for 3 years. After moving to North Carolina I taught at Lawsonville Elementary for 9 years. When my daughter was born, I wanted to move to GCS before she started Kindergarten, since we live in the district. I began my first year in GCS at Southern Elementary in Greensboro. Although it was a great school, I was looking for something closer to home and daycare. So the following year I transferred to Pilot in Greensboro, which was only minutes away from daycare. I had planned on staying there for a while; however, a wonderful opportunity arose to come to Oak Ridge. Teaching at Oak Ridge was my goal! Now I am minutes away from home. My daughter, Alissa, attends ORE and is in second grade this year. I have taught all grades K-6 with the exception of 5th grade, but the majority of the years have been spent teaching first and second grades. This is my fifth year at Oak Ridge, and I love it here. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin - River Falls. I also hold a master's degree in Reading Education form Appalachian State University. I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
