I have been teaching mathematics at Southwest since 2007. Before this time, I was a computer programmer/systems analyst for a large apparel company located in Greensboro. When asked "Why go into teaching?", my standard answer is because "It fills my soul!" I know that teaching is a demanding vocation, but I can think of no better job since I am helping my students see the beauty in mathematics.
I received my B.S. degree in computer science from Appalachian State University and obtained my Secondary Mathematics licensure through the Alternative Entry program at the University of NC at Greensboro. During my coursework at UNCG, I took several math courses (calculus primarily) at NC A&T University.
One more fun fact about me: My first language is American Sign Language (both of my parents are deaf)
