Mrs. Shephard

I am Charnelle Shephard, the proud Principal of Kernodle Middle School.  I am super excited to partner with this school community.  I am a 2011 participant of the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy and a 2012 graduate with administration licensure from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in History from Fayetteville State University and Masters of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Cultural Foundations of Education focusing on alternative education and at-risk students. I have over 20 years of educational experience, beginning as a substitute teacher, teacher, and assistant principal. 

I am a daughter, wife, and mother of two daughters, a singer, play-wright, motivational speaker, entrepreneur and have a heart and passion for education. I live by the philosophy that, "people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care".

My goal is to implement the Kernodle vision statement, to uphold a standard of excellence, fostering academic and social growth through creativity with collaboration and care. I am dedicated to making sure our community of learners has a safe, enjoyable, and nurturing environment. 

Over the course of this year, your child will experience our Kernodle mission, with personalized learning and enrichment opportunities, and much more!  I look forward to working with each parent and student! I truly believe, "Alone we can do so little; TOGETHER we can do so much!"
