Hello! I've been a Ben L. Smith High school Eagle since May 2010. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the land of the GREEN and GOLD! I instruct students from all over the world in English 9, English 12 and ESL classes. This fall, I'll teach Exploring Communications-Content Areas (ECCA) and next spring, Sheltered English 9 and 12.
My goal is to help all my students to work at their full potential, help them to see the ongoing value of becoming a life long learner and discovering the benefits of excelling in their educational opportunities. My focus is to help students to learn effective speaking, listening, reading, writing and comprehension strategies to assist in their educational career and life.
I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, or UNCG, and majored in English. While there, I served as the English Club's vice president, and with the other officers invited and met one of my favorite authors, Maya Angelou, to speak at our university. This was one of the highlights of my time in college.
For fun I enjoy various types of exercising, researching and cooking healthy dishes, reading magazine articles and novels, traveling and hanging out with family and friends for celebrations and during the holidays. Nowadays, we rely on Zoom, Skype and Facetime to catch up.
Office Hours/Tutoring Help
If this were a regular school year, I would offer help after school or lunchtime. But since we are strictly online so far, my office hours are daily from 9:00-10 AM for parents or students not in class. With remote/distant learning, I will provide tutoring via phone call or conference daily in Teams or Canvas upon request. You may reach me at 336-517-7828 via text, phone call, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
