Did you know that 1 in 4 children go hungry?
Greensboro and High Point are 9th in the nation for food insecurity. Fourth Graders at General Greene will host our 4th annual Food Drive to help all people in our community. We know that food is such an important part of our lives, from keeping us healthy to helping us to be better learners. We want everyone here in Guilford County to have the same opportunity to be their very best. We will invite all of General Greene to bring in donations to help us in our mission to make sure every person has food.
Donation boxes will be located in your classroom. Fourth Grade will come and collect the items from each classroom. Ms. Poteat's kindergarten class collected the most donations and won a popcorn party.
Fifth grade will sponsor a shoe recycle program in partnership with Shoebox. Shoebox gives you boxes. You fill them up and make them heavy — 40 lbs. heavy! Shoebox gives you a label and pays for UPS shipping. Shoebox sends you checks cut monthly based on the pounds of shoes collected. You make your network of recyclers happy, the planet happy, and generate money for your school.
