Hello!  My name is Joseph Burns and I am thrilled to say I teach art at Northwest Middle School. I grew up in the St. Louis, Missouri area and graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Missouri, St. Louis in 2005 and a Master of Art Education degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville in 2013.  I began my teaching career in the Beaufort County School District in Eastern North Carolina.  I taught ten years in this district before moving to Guilford County Schools.  This year I am teaching 6th, 7th & 8Th grade art.

Currently, I live in the Greensboro area.  Growing up in the St. Louis area my middle school mascot were the Bulldogs. I participated in baseball, basketball and golf. After excelling in golf, I went on to play collegiately.  After college I was a golf professional at Blackwolf Run Golf Club.  Still, in the afternoons during the warm months I assist the Greensboro College Golf Team.  We finished the 2017-2018 season ranked 11th in the country.  I also have experience coaching baseball, soccer and football.  I enjoy playing competitive golf, creating art, listening to music and traveling.
