Beth Cox is the Band and Orchestra Director at Northwest Guilford Middle School. She is a National Board Certified Teacher currently in her 11th year as a music educator. Ms. Cox received her undergraduate degree from the University of of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied clarinet under Dr. Shawn Copeland and conducting with Mr. Robert Gutter and Dr. Kevin Geraldi. She completed her collegiate experience by performing on clarinet as a member of the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall.
Ms. Cox spends her summers as an assessor for the National Board for Professional Teaching standards. Additionally, she was an item writer for the National Board Assessment composing questions for the Early/Middle Childhood Orchestra section.
Ms. Cox is a member of The National Association for Music Education, Music Educators of North Carolina, The North Carolina Bandmaster's Association, The American String Teachers Association and The North Carolina American String Teachers Association.
