• I am Carrie Hopkins, sixth grade Social Studies teacher, and this is my 28th year in education.

I'm from a military family in which my father spent over 20 years in the Air Force. During that time, I was fortunate to see many places and attend 10 different schools. I grew up either hanging out or fussing with two sisters and playing volleyball and softball. You can say my childhood contributed to my outgoing personality. We decided to leave the west coast and retire here in NC near family. So...here I am!

I received a teaching scholarship and attended UNC-Greensboro. I then received my Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Virginia...Go Hoos! I have also received my AG certification from High Point University. In addition, I am National Board Certified and re-certified---twice! I have taught various grade levels K-6, been a curriculum facilitator, been an assistant principal, and teach courses online.  After moving from Virginia, I returned to the classroom to have more time with my boys (who are now grown). I enjoy teaching and working with various aspects of education.

I married my high school sweetheart, and have two wonderful sons. Some of my hobbies include getting lost in a great book and DIY projects.  We enjoy pulling for the Indianapolis Colts football team and having adventures at the beach, lake, and on road trips.  I also enjoy visiting my sons and spoiling my grand-dog, Hardy! I also enjoy a great cup of coffee and welcome k-cup contributions..haha!
