Welcome! My name is Loretta Matherlee. I am from Indiana, attended Indiana State University, (Larry Bird country) and moved to NC after getting married in 1996. My husband and I have two daughters. The older is a sophomore at Southern Wesleyan University majoring in Criminal Justice and plays bass guitar for the University Singers; the younger is a junior in high school and is active in music, (mainly piano) and sports.
I'm in my twenty-sixth year of teaching middle school. I have experience in ELA, science and social studies. I taught eighth grade during my first four years; I'm in my twenty-second year teaching sixth grade. I've spent many years coaching volleyball, basketball and Battle of the Books. Currently, I am the sponsor of the Impact Club which meets every Thursday morning in the media center at 8:10, (we might begin virtual meetings until we're back to school).
I firmly believe that the success of students will be greater if we all work together. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to send an email to me.
* Please sign up to receive my Remind messages. That information is found at the bottom of this page. Only sign up for the one time you have science class. If you are not sure which science class you are in, wait until I can assist you. Students and parents may sign up.
