My name is Richard Bock and I am the new Latin teacher at Murphey. I recently graduated from UNCG where I received a Master's of history degree and I earned my Bachelor's degree from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia where I majored in history, classical studies, and archeology. Throughout my education, I have been very fortunate to travel for school or archeological excavations to many other countries such as England, Italy, and Greece. I have also have the wonderful experience of raising my German shepherd after adopting him at eight weeks old.
I am very excited to begin work at Murphey and to teach a subject that I love. Learning Latin, or any language, is a wonderful pursuit and extremely beneficial to fostering curiosity, critical thinking skills, and problem solving methods for a person of any age.
