Hi! My name is Theresa Vitarelli and I teach Kindergarten at Claxton Elementary. This will be my 20th year of teaching! I have taught first grade and have been a remedial reading teacher. But, Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach!
I graduated in 1986 from Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV. I taught for 5 years in Tampa, Florida and 1 year in Clarksburg, WV. I then took 13 years off to raise our family and came back to teaching when our son started Kindergarten. This is my 14th year at Claxton!
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Jan, for 28 years! We have 3 terrific children: Julianne, 25; Jennifer, 22; and James, 19. We also have a black cat named Niles and a black and white kitten named Petey.
I believe that all children should experience a positive learning environment where their individual needs are met, their interests are fed, and their learning styles are enhanced. Through individual and group activities, I encourage my students to grow in their self-esteem, independence, cultural identity, and knowledge of the world around them. After all, these are our future leaders!!
