Mrs. Finch - 6th Grade Math
Welcome to 6th Grade Math!
My name is Allison Finch and I am pleased to continue serving as a 6th grade math teacher here at Eastern Guilford Middle School. I graduated from Mercer University, located in Macon, GA, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Before coming to EGMS, I worked as a fifth grade teacher and also as a special education teacher; however, working at the middle school level is my favorite. I look forward to the opportunity to work alongside your child this school year.
Please sign up for Remind, my communication tool, by texting @h2hb8d to the number 81010.
Your child will have homework Monday-Thursday. Now that students are getting used to the procedures, students will have 2 problems to complete each night. This should not take long at all for your child to complete. Please ask to see this question each night and review the answer with them. We will go over the answers the next day and students can correct any mistakes. The sheet is due on Friday to be graded.
When talking about the day’s lesson with your child, please visit im.openupresources.org. Your child can use the student page to show you what we did in class that day and they can access practice problems for that lesson. There are also parent resources available for you.
If your child needs additional help or practice please visit https://www.khanacademy.org/math/6th-grade-illustrative-math. This site has video lessons, practice problems and study guides for most of the lessons we will be completing in class this year. This is a great resources for students and parents alike. If you don’t understand how something is being taught in class, please watch the video for that lesson so you can better assist your child at home.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
