                                       I am originally from West Virginia and a second generation teacher. My mom taught for over 30 years.   I attended Fairmont State College (now University) for my undergraduate degree.  I am also a graduate from High Point University, with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education (with a focus in Reading).  This is my 11th year at Shadybrook Elementary.  I have been teaching for nineteen years.  I love watching the students grow and learn.  The grades I have taught include, 4th, 5th and 6th. 

              5th grade year is slightly different from the other elementary school years because we take the Science End of Grade Assessment.  Part of this curriculum will include weather, heat transfer, human body systems, traits and ecosystems.  Students will have weekly vocabulary checks on their Science vocabulary.  This is a great opportunity to show off what they have learned!
