LCDR Elliott Jordan is a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He enlisted in the Navy in November 1972. After recruit training, LCDR Jordan graduated from Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois, with follow on training at Pharmacy Technician School in Portsmouth, Virginia. As a Pharmacy Technician, he completed assignments at The Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina, Naval Air Station, Meridian, Mississippi, Naval Regional Medical Center, Naples Italy, and Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, South Carolina.
In 1981, he was selected to the Enlisted Commissioning Program and earned a Bachelor of Public Administration degree from The University of Mississippi. After graduation, LCDR Jordan was commissioned an Ensign through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. In 1983, he was assigned to the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) where he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer. In 1987, he reported as an assistant professor of Naval Science at Old Dominion University. During this tour, he earned a Master’s Degree in Education Training and Management Sub-specialty (ETMS). His next assignment was to Surface Warfare Department Head School in Newport, Rhode Island. After completing Department Head Training, he was assigned as Operations Officer onboard USS Shenandoah (AD-44). His final tour was with the Bureau of Naval Personnel as a Manpower Analyst.
LCDR Jordan retired from the Navy after 23 years active service, on December 01, 1995. He has been employed as the Director of the Naval Science Program since October 02, 1995 at Page High School.
LCDR Jordan’s personal decorations include: the Navy Commendation Medal with Bronze Star, the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal and various campaign and service awards.
LCDR Jordan is married to the former Diane Simms of Annapolis, Maryland. They have two children, Dennis and Andrea both of High Point, North Carolina.
