My name is Doris Gardea and this is my eighth year teaching as a Special Education teacher. I was born and raised in Liberia, West Africa. I moved to the United States in 2002 and lived in Richmond Virginia. I later moved to North Carolina in 2007. I worked with Guilford County Schools as a Substitute Teacher 2007-2013 and later was employed as a Teacher Assistant in Pre-Kindergarten during the 2013-2014 school year at Brightwood Elementary. I graduated from Greensboro College as a Special Education Teacher in 2012 then obtained my Special Education License in 2014. I was named Brightwood Elementary Teacher of the Year 2021-2022 and I am a proud parent to four beautiful daughters. I like to read and spend time cooking using varieties of international recipes. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
