  • Welcome to Southern Guilford Elementary School. I am very proud to call Southern home, having served here since 2013.  It has been a great honor and pleasure to get to know the fine staff, students, and parents who make up this wonderful community.  Our students are truly amazing.  They are kind, caring, and respectful of their teachers and peers. Our students raise thousands of dollars each year for worthy causes. Without hesitation, they demonstrate their love and compassion for others.

    Our students maintain a sense of wonder and appreciation. They are academically curious and eager to learn. They cooperate with staff to keep the focus in our building on teaching and learning. They are scholars with bright futures. 

    Our staff works very hard each day to prepare our students to be college and career ready. With the competitive nature of our global economy, we want our students prepared to take advantage of all the opportunities that will come their way.  We want each child ready to follow the path of his/her dreams by being academically, socially, and emotionally prepared to make good choices and excel.  Our school is small with a family atmosphere. The staff truly loves our children and goes the extra mile daily to help each one.

    We have wonderful parents who support our efforts and are proud of their school. I appreciate all your help and encouragement. Please contact me if you have any concerns, ideas, or praise reports that you would like to share. Parents, please monitor homework and at home reading so that your child can practice skills taught and improve his/her reading fluency and comprehension. We need each parent encouraging his/her child to put forth the effort to excel. Our students are amazing; they deserve the best.

    I am deeply committed to ensuring that all students at Southern receive rigorous, engaging instruction every day. It is a joy for me to visit classrooms and see the progress the children are making each day. I can honestly say, Southern Guilford Elementary School is a gem in our district. I am glad to be a part of this amazing learning community.
