I am the Reading Specialist at Simkins. I also serve as an instructional coach for K-1 teachers and 4th and 5th grade ELA teachers. I work closely with students and teachers to support academic success. My goal is to work in partnership with Simkins’ teachers, students, and families to support student growth.
I have an undergraduate degree from UNC-G in Child Development and a Master’s degree in Education specializing in Reading from UNC-G. I received my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2000 and renewed my certificate in 2010 and 2020. I have been teaching since 1989. Most of my teaching experience has been in Guilford County. However, I spent part of the 1996 school year in Tunisia, Africa, where I taught first grade at the American Cooperative School of Tunis. I also served as an adjunct faculty member at both Greensboro College and High Point University.
