Battle of the Books
The Battle of the Books program is a reading program designed to encourage fourth and fifth grade students to read good books and participate in friendly competition with their peers. All elementary students read the same 15 books that have been designated by the North Carolina School Library Media Association.
Elementary Battle of the Books is open to all fourth and fifth grade students who love to read and enjoy some competition! An informational meeting will be held in mid-September. Normally, meetings are held once a week on Mondays, afterschool, for about one hour. Here at Stokesdale we begin as a club. As students read books, attend meetings, take practice author and title tests, create a journal of books read and complete homework assignments, they achieve points. The top 12 students with the most points will be our competitive team in the virtual county-wide competition in March 2023. The competition team members will be announced at the beginning of January.
Please start reading books from the Battle of the Books list this summer.
