Theatre Students Performing In Front of An Audience

Creative experiences that shape futures

You have a creative student, and you want to give them every opportunity to explore their talents. At GCS, students join orchestras and countywide choruses, create in digital music labs, step onto the stage and see their artwork displayed in galleries. Tell us what your child is curious to pursue, and GCS will help connect them to programs and pathways that open doors.

Across the district, students explore music, dance, theatre, visual arts and design while building confidence, collaboration and creative problem-solving skills that strengthen their learning across every subject. GCS provides exciting opportunities through all-county ensembles, student exhibitions, arts field trips, behind-the-scenes career days and arts-focused schools that allow students to go deeper in the disciplines they love. Guided by values of access, community and opportunity, GCS Arts invests in educators and experiences that help every child feel welcome, supported and prepared for the world ahead.

What could an arts career look like?

The Guilford Guarantee promises that every student has the opportunity to graduate with college credit, workplace experience or a professional credential. In the arts, students build 21st-century skills through digital media, design, performance and visual arts while gaining exposure to professional settings and post-secondary options. From collaborations with local colleges to career exploration days and emerging pipelines into creative trades, GCS Arts helps students turn passion into possibility so your student graduates with creative confidence, hands-on experience and a clear path forward.

Students Visit The Tanger Center To Learn About Stage Production

GCS students visit the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts for a Student Day experience that introduces them to behind-the-scenes careers in theater production, including lighting, sound, marketing and stage management.

GCS students record music, experiment with sound and learn production skills inside a first-of-its-kind Notes for Notes studio at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, where professional instruments, mentoring and hands-on creative time help young artists explore and build confidence through a national nonprofit partnership.

All-County events showcase talent from across GCS.

GCS All-County events bring together talented students from across the district for chorus, band, orchestra and visual arts showcases that feel both inspiring and professionally demanding. Teachers nominate students to ensure broad representation across schools, while audition-based ensembles challenge musicians to perform at an advanced level, including a full high school symphony orchestra that offers many students a rare large-ensemble experience.
