   What is Mental Health?  

The Substance Use and Mental Health Services Association (SAMSHA) defines mental health as our emotional, psychological, and social well-being affecting how we think, feel and act.  It influences our ability to handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

The Mental Health Department's vision is to increase the success of all students through effective mental health services. The mission is to increase student success through education, prevention, and intervention with quality substance-use and mental health services.

First Steps

School-Based Mental Health starts with Specialized Instructional Support Personnel (SISP) and includes School Counselors, School Social Workers and School Psychologists who work alongside instructional staff to support all students’ mental health and wellness.
