Formerly known as Guilford Parent Academy (GPA), we are now GCS Family Academy.

Our new name better reflects our commitment to serving all caregivers, parents, grandparents, guardians, and extended family as vital partners in every child’s learning journey.

Though our name has changed, our mission remains the same: empowering families with the tools and resources they need to support student success.

What We Do

GCS Family Academy is a free, year-round family engagement program offered through Guilford County Schools. We offer workshops, events, and resources that help families support their child’s academic growth and well-being at home and in the classroom.

Workshops and events address important topics such as college and career readiness, homework support, bullying prevention, and student wellness. Events are hosted at schools and community locations across Guilford County to ensure access and convenience.

We proudly partner with over 70 local organizations and businesses that help lead sessions, share resources, and provide support. Every event is designed with families in mind that are practical, relevant, and built for real impact.

GCS Family Academy is committed to helping families and educators strengthen home–school partnerships throughout the 2025–26 school year. Together, we’ll explore practical ways to support student learning in the classroom and at home. Each month, we’ll share quick, actionable tips for parents, caregivers, and educators to foster meaningful engagement and set students up for success.
