    Dan Turner

    I live in High Point and have been teaching at Ragsdale High School as a CTE teacher for 22 years! I love being a Tiger and I have coached at Ragsdale from my first year to now. I currently coach the Tiger Women's Volleyball team. This spring, I hope to start a Club Beach Volleyall Team fo Ragsdale.

    I have 2 sons, Ben 28 and Bryan 26. I love to play both beach volleyball and indoor volleyball and played as an outside hitter and setter for the University of Connecticut. I still coach volleyball at High Point University (10 years) for the Men's Club Volleyball team. Two years ago, we were supposed to compete at the National Championships in Kansas City, MO, but the championships were canceled due to COVID 19. Hopefully, we will qualify and go this year instead.

    I am an avid hiker and the picture to the right was taken at Hanging Rock State Park where we hiked the Moore's Wall Trail to the fire tower! If you have never hiked, this is an amazing intermediate trail that rewards you with a 360-degree view from the highest point in the park. You can climb to the top of the fire tower or sit on the edge of the cliff like I did in this picture and just take in the view. It is my peaceful place!!! My upcoming plans for hiking include Grandfather Mountain Profile Trail which is considered one of the most challenging hikes on the East Coast. It involves climbing cliff ladders, boulder fields,and of course, the majestic views!!!

    Last summer, Coach Capps and I entered and cycled the RAGBRAI in Iowa. We trained and prepared for the 500 mile cycling trip for 4 months and then set off for Iowa to ride from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River which was a 504 mile ride that we completed in 7 days.     As a CTE teacher, I am excited to work with each of you in learning about Entrepreneurship!!! This may be a challenging semester for you and I understand. We will work together and learn a great deal in the process. If you are stressed about grades, let me know and I will do my best to help you in any way I can. This is all new for you and me and I am excited for the challenge!!!
