    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    First, thank you to all those students, parents, and volunteers who came out Saturday evening to help serve dinner to the homeless Under the Bridge!  It makes me proud to see our students giving back to their community. 

     

    3rd Quarter Interim Reports will be sent home with students on Monday, February 24th.  Parents, be sure to review your student’s academic progress, sign, and return the interim to the classroom teacher. (2/24 CORRECTION- INTERIM REPORTS WILL GO HOME TUESDAY, FEB. 25TH)

     

    The registration window is now open for the class registration for the 2020-2021 school year.  Rising 7th and 8th grade students will register on Tuesday in their core classes with help from their teachers and counselors.  Students can also access their registration from their PowerSchool account and do it at home as well. 

     

    8th Grade Outer Banks parent meeting will be on Thursday, February 27th at 6pm in the cafeteria.  Also, the 8th grade is requesting snack and water donations for the trip and can be sent into your classroom teacher. 

     

    Friday, February 28th is a non-SMOD day with a $2 donation to the Kiser band program.  Also, the UnSweetheart Dance will be Friday afterschool in the gym from 3:30-5:30pm.  Students who purchased a dance ticket previously do not need to make another purchase, but tickets will go back on sale for $3 each morning in the cafeteria Monday through Thursday.  Tickets will not be sold on Friday or at the door Friday afternoon. 

     

    The 3rd Quarter Character Education breakfast is on Friday, February 28th at 8:30am in the media center.  We invite the parents and families of the students who were nominated to join us to recognize our students for showing kindness and courage. 

     

    Athletic Schedule:

    Spring Sports tryouts will begin on Monday, March 2nd.  All students who are interested in trying out must have a current physical and concussion form on file.

     

    The basketball teams will participate in the conference tournament this week.  The boys will host their first game at Kiser on Tuesday, February 25th at 5pm.  The girls semifinal game will be on Wednesday, February 26th at 5pm at Western Middle School.  Good luck to both teams!

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W., principal of Kiser Middle School, with several important announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    I am excited to announce that Kiser will begin to offer an American Sign Language club that will be meeting afterschool.  The first club meeting is on Tuesday, February 18th afterschool in Mrs. Williams’ class C312.  Students who are interested in staying for the club should complete the application that is located on the Kiser homepage.

     

    The Grimsley Curriculum Night has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 20th at 5:30pm in the auditorium for any interested rising 9th grade families and students. 

     

    Monday, February 17th is a regular school day, as it will be the make up day for Friday, February 7th

     

    Parents, a couple of important reminders about the afternoon car rider line.  First, please make sure we are keeping the second lane clear in order for emergency vehicles to be able to access the building should we have an emergency.  Also, all students who going to vehicles in side lot or in parking spots should only cross at the cross walk.  We do not want students crossing the car rider line in any other areas.  Thank you for helping make sure we safely dismiss at the end of each day. 

     

    Athletic Schedule for the Week:

    Tuesday, February 18th the wrestling team will host Mendenhall Middle at 4:45pm. 

     

    Thursday, February 20th Boys/Girls basketball teams will travel to take on Eastern Middle in their regular season finale!

    2/10/2020

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W., principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    Kiser SGA is sponsoring a school spirit week.

    Monday- Jersey Day and students may wear their favorite jersey with SMOD bottoms.

    Tuesday – twin day and students should be in SMOD

    Wednesday – Wacky Tacky Day in SMOD (crazy hair/socks/mixed up clothes)

    Thursday – Kiser Spirit Day and students may wear Kiser gear with SMOD bottoms

    Friday is a free non-SMOD day – Color Me Valentine’s Day and students are encouraged to wear red, pink, and white

     

    Valentine’s Day Candy grams will be on sale this week for $3 or $5 from SGA.  Students may purchase a candy gram to send to someone on Friday, and all the proceeds will be used to sponsor our students to attend the Special Olympics.

     

    Kiser will be administering the ACCESS test next week to select students.  Ms. Rodriguez has communicated with students who will be participating in the testing. 

     

    Monday, February 17th is a mandated teacher workday.  There is no school for students next Monday.

    Monday, February 10th the girls/boys basketball teams will host Allen Middle at 4:45pm at Kiser.

    Thursday, February 13th the girls/boys basketball teams will host Northeast Middle at 4:45pm at Kiser, and the wrestling team will travel to take on Northeast.

    Here is the connect ed message for this week:

     

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    The GCS Choice Showcase is Wednesday, February 5th from 5:30-8:30pm at the Greensboro Coliseum special events center.  Come out and learn about the different high school options and magnet programs that GCS has to offer.

     

    February 3rd through the 7th is National Counselors Week!  We want to say a special thank you to Mrs. Ingram, Mrs. Drew, and Mrs. Parker for all they do to help our students, staff, and parents on a daily basis.  Please help me in saying thank you to them throughout the week! 

     

    Friday, February 7th will be an Afterschool Dance sponsored by the Kiser band and orchestra programs from 3:30-5:30pm in the gym.  Students can purchase tickets to the dance for $3 Monday through Thursday during A/A.  There will be no tickets sold Friday morning or at the door Friday afternoon.  Also, Friday, February 7th is a non-SMOD day with a $2 donation to the band program. 

     

    Grimsley Curriculum Night is Thursday, February 6th at 5:30pm and rising 9th grade parents and families are invited to attend.  The information session will be at 5:30pm in the auditorium and the curriculum fair will be from 6-7pm in the cafeteria.  Please see the attachment for more information.

     

    The February PTA Meeting will be on Tuesday, February 4th at 6pm in the media center. 

     

    Kiser Chick-Fil-A Night will be on Wednesday, February 5th at Friendly Center Location from 5-8pm sponsored by the Yearbook Club!

    Monday, February 3rd boys and girls basketball teams will host Western and the wrestling team will travel to take on Western at 4:45pm.  Thursday, February 6th the wrestling team will host Jackson Middle and the basketball teams will travel to Jackson at 4:45pm.

    For Week of 1/27/2020

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    The 2nd Quarter Report Cards, Honor Roll certificates, and other information will be sent home on Thursday, January 30th.  Please take some time to review your student’s academic progress, sign, and return the report card to your classroom teacher. 

     

    We want to recognize several of our students for representing Kiser at the district science fair!  Congratulations to Noga Wasserberg who placed 1st in the Biological Sciences category, Sara Lambeth and Mirabella Grubb both took home Honorable Mention in Biological Sciences, Josh Squire placed 3rd in Engineering, and Isaac Yates took Honorable Mention in Physics.  I am proud of all our students who participated in the science fair! 

     

    Friday, January 31st is Future Leaders Day for 8th grade students at Kiser from 1-3pm.  A reminder that students should be dressed in SMOD or better on Friday.  A part of the afternoon students will be participating in a mock interview with community and business representatives, and so we thank them for their time.  Students received more information from the counselors about how to prepare for the afternoon.  Also, 8th grade parents are reminded to join the Remind @kiser8t to get important updates and reminders from our counselors about upcoming registration and magnet school application deadlines.

     

    Wednesday, January 29th there is a parent meeting for students who will be participating in Music in the Park field trip at 6pm in the band room.

     

    The district will host a Rising Middle School Registration and Transition Meeting at Western Middle on Tuesday, February 11th at 6 – 7:30pm for any rising middle school parents and families.

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    Monday, January 20th the school and office will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday and there is no school for students on Tuesday, January 21st as it is a Teacher Workday.  We look forward to students returning on Wednesday, January 22nd for the beginning of the 3rd grading period and the start of the 2nd semester!

     

    You now have the opportunity to use Here Comes the Bus, a free app that allows you to see when your child’s bus is close to your bus stop. It will alert you when the bus is near and let you know when there is a delay. To sign up, download the Here Comes the Bus app or go to herecomesthebus.com. Click sign up and then enter the code 87491 for our district. You will need your child’s student ID number to complete this process. A flyer and letter with more information is attached to the email message and also posted on the Kiser Website.  If you have any questions please contact transportation at 336-370-8920. 

     

    8th Grade Parents a reminder for two important deadlines.  First, the final payment for the Outer Banks field trip is due by January 31st.  Second, if you plan to purchase a yearbook please contact Mrs. Silver for more information.

     

    Parents, the PTA needs your help!  We have launched the Raise Your Paws corporate sponsor campaign and we are looking for community businesses and corporations to help partner with our PTA.  Please pass along our RYP Corporate Sponsorship Information to anyone who may be interested in helping Kiser!  Remember all the Raise Your Paws funds raised helps the PTA support our school with different programs throughout the year.

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    Friday, January 17th is the end of the 2nd grading period.  Students please make sure you have turned in all your work and assignments before Friday.

     

    Attention 8th Grade Parents, The 8th Grade Outer Banks field trip update letters were sent home with students.  We need all parents to read, sign, and return the forms so the 8th grade staff an ensure we have all the student planning to attend on the planning list.  Final payments for the 8th grade trip should be made by the end of January.   Also, the deadline for 8th grade Yearbook Shoutout purchases is January 31st so if you are interested in purchasing for your 8th grade student please visit the Kiser homepage or contact Mrs. Silver    

     

    The Kiser Spelling Bee will be on Tuesday, January 14th at 8:30am in the media center.  Congratulations and good luck to all of our classroom winners.

     

    Rising 9th Grade Information Night is Tuesday, January 14th at 6pm in the media center.  We invite our 8th grade parents to come and receive important information about the transition to high school and the registration process. 

     

    Interim Benchmarks will be administered this coming week.  The schedule is as follows:

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several important reminders for the upcoming week.

     

    First, I want to say Happy New Year and welcome back.  I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing winter break and enjoyed the holidays with friends and family.  As we return from winter break it is important to note that we only have two weeks remaining in the 2nd grading period and the 2nd interim benchmarks are coming soon so students will need to quickly get back into a routine and be focused on work as we come back to school.

     

    The January PTA Meeting is on Monday, January 6th at 6pm in the media center. 

     

    The basketball teams return to action on Thursday, January 9th as they will travel to take on Allen Middle at 4:45pm. 

     

    8th grade students and parents mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 14th as Kiser will host Rising 9th Grade Parent Information Night at 6pm in the media center.  Mrs. Ingram and Mrs. Drew will provide parents with important information about the process for the transition to high school for our 8th grade students.  You do not want to miss out on getting information and being able to ask questions.  Also, Future Leader Day for 8th grade students is coming on Friday, January 31st.  Please contact Mrs. Ingram or Mrs. Drew in the counseling department if you are interested in volunteering for Future Leaders Day. 

     

    The Interim Benchmark #2 will be administered to students on January 15th, 16th, and 17th

     

    The final day of the 2nd grading period is Friday, January 17th.  Students should be working to resolve any missing or incomplete work as we return from winter break. 

     

    Finally, be sure to turn in your winter break reading challenge logs to be entered into the drawing for prizes from GCS and to earn a free UNCG basketball ticket!  Thank you to all those who took time to continue to read over the break.

    12/16/2019

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    The Theater students will present their monologues and presentations at the Winter Theater Performance on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30pm in the gym.  The students performing should report to the dance/chorus room by 5:30pm on Tuesday evening to prepare for their performance. 

     

    Friday, December 20th is a non-SMOD day with a $2 donation to the Kiser EnergyWise Club.  Students and parents should refer to the parent/student handbook or the planner for information regarding the guidelines for non-SMOD. 

     

    The GCS Winter Break reading challenge is back!  Students will receive their reading logs this week and are encouraged to read 30 minutes each day during the break.  Reading logs will be due when we return to school in January, and students who submit a completed reading log will be entered into a chance to win prizes from GCS.

     

    Weekly Athletic Schedule:

    Monday, December 16th the wrestling team will host Western Middle at Kiser at 4:45pm, and boys/girls basketball teams will travel to Western at 4:45pm.  Thursday, December 19th the boys/girls basketball teams will host Jackson Middle at Kiser and the wrestling team will travel to take on Jackson at 4:45pm.

     

    Finally, winter break will begin after dismissal on Friday, December 20th.  The school and office will be closed December 21st through January 5th, and students will return to school on Monday, January 6th.  I hope everyone has a wonderful winter break, enjoy holiday time with family and friends, and travel safely.  I will look forward to seeing everyone back in 2020!

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    The deadline to order your yearbook for $28 is January 31st.  After January the price of the book goes up to $35, so don’t wait and place your orders now.  Also, 8th grade parents who wish to purchase a Yearbook Shoutout for $50 must have their order submitted by January 31st.

     

    This is the time of giving, so the PTA Raise Your Paws Campaign is still looking for donations and contributions.  The Raise Your Paws is the only PTA fundraiser, and it is these direct contributions which help fund and support the programs, projects, and initiatives throughout the year.  Please visit the Kiser homepage and click on the PTA page for information on making a donation. 

     

    The 7th and 8th Grade Band concert is on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30pm in the gym and the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Orchestra Concert is on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30pm in the gym.  We hope that you will come out and support our musicians. 

     

    8th Grade Parents, save the date for Tuesday, January 14th at 6pm for a Rising 9th Grade Parent Information Night.  The meeting will be held in the media center and will include important information for the high school registration process. 

     

    The Student Government Association is sponsoring a food drive for our service learning project.  Ask your student what food item their homeroom class has been assigned and we are trying to get 30 items of each donated per classroom.  The service project is going toward helping the Back Pack Beginnings Program provide food for students during the extended winter break!

    Monday, December 9th the wrestling team will host Allen Jay Middle School at 4:45pm at Kiser, and on Wednesday, December 11th the basketball teams will take on Swann at Kiser beginning at 4:45pm.  The wrestling team will travel to take on Swann on Wednesday.  We hope you will come out and support the Tigers!

    For Week of 12/2/2019

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with several announcements for the upcoming week. 

     

    The December PTA Meeting will be Monday, December 2nd at 6pm in the media center. 

     

    The Winter Dance Performance is on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30pm in the gym.  We hope you will come out and support our dance students.

     

    The 2nd quarter interim progress reports will go home with students on Tuesday, December 3rd.  Parents, please take time to review your student’s academic progress, sign, and return the progress report to your student’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. 

     

    The Kiser Science Fair will begin on Wednesday, December 4th in the media center.  Good luck to all out participants who have been working hard on a project for this year! 

     

    It is Kiser Night at Spare Time on Wednesday, December 4th from 6-8pm.  Wednesdays are 50% so bring your cards from the cross country fundraiser and get twice the fun playing games with friends on Wednesday evening.

     

    Winter Sports season will kickoff on Thursday, December 5th.  The wrestling team will travel for their match against Kernodle at 4:45pm on Thursday, and the Boys and Girls basketball teams will host Lincoln at 4:45pm.  Also, a reminder that the price for admission to all GCS middle and high school sports has increased by a $1.  Therefore; the cost for students is $3 and the adult price is $5  We hope you will come out and pack the gym for our upcoming games!

    SPECIAL MESSAGE 11/19/2019 
     

    Good evening Tigers this is brief reminder that any parents or guardians who order items for the Band and Orchestra Booster Dewey’s fundraiser should plan to pick up those items on Wednesday, November 20th in the cafeteria from 5-6:30pm.  Parents can enter at the door leading into the gym entrance, and members from the booster club will have items sorted and ready for pick up during this time.  If you can’t make it during the pick up time please try to make arrangements for someone to pick up your items.

    For Week of 11/18

     

    Good evening Tigers this is Mr. W, principal of Kiser Middle School, with important announcements for the upcoming week.

     

    The Afterschool Dance sponsored by the 8th grade Outer Banks field trip is Friday, November 22nd from 3:30-5:30pm in the gym, and students need to have a ride at school by 5:30pm.  Tickets for the dance will be on sale each morning in the cafeteria for $3, and need to be purchased before Friday.  Admission will not be taken at the door of the dance. 

     

    Beginning this week our students will begin to participate in reproductive health and safety education and family life during their PE class.  An information letter was sent home this past week with you student, and it included an opportunity for parents to meet with Mrs. Hailey on Monday, November 18th to preview the material. 

     

    The Character Education Breakfast is Friday, November 22nd at 8:30am in the media center and we look forward to recognizing our students for their respect and responsibility.  Your student’s teacher will notify you if your student will be receiving recognition.

     

    The winter Chorus concert will be on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30pm in the gym, and the 6th grade winter band concert is on Thursday, November 21st at 6:30pm in the gym.

     

    Winter sports tryouts will begin on Monday, November 18th afterschool.  Any student that is interest in participating on the basketball and wrestling should plan to stay afterschool.  Information and specific times will be posted for each sport, and students need to have a current physical and concussion form.

     

    Each year every school receives a school report card from DPI, and our current report card was released on November 8th and is available on our school website.

    Finally, please see the attached document for families who may need food assistance for Thanksgiving.  Lawndale Baptist Church, one of the local faith partners, is providing assistance to families in the community.
