My name is Carole Harrington. I serve Parkview Village Elementary as the Teacher for the Academically Gifted on Thursdays and Fridays. English language arts and math 90-minute weekly pull-out enrichment classes are provided for qualifying 3rd, 4th, and 5th AG students. These classes begin at the beginning of the school year. MAP (Maximizing Academic Potential) classes, part of the GCS Talent Development program, are available for students who annually meet that criterion. Once identified, the MAP students are then served weekly for 45 minutes. Additionally, during each school year, I visit 2nd grade classes to conduct whole group lessons focused on reasoning and thinking skills. Second grade students also take the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) sometime in January-February. This assessment begins the AG screening process. After its completion, 2nd grade small groups will be pulled to continue a focus on thinking skills. I am excited to be a part of Parkview Village and this 2023-2024 school year!!!! Go Panthers!
