  • STEM Night - May 12, 2022 at 6 PM

    Tonight is our Virtual STEM Night!  At 6:00pm we will start out with our Title 1 Parent Meeting, and then we will preview the activities and provide instructions for completing them as a family.  You may choose to complete them tonight or at another time; remember, we would love to see pictures!

  • Field Day - June 1

    Due to the inclement weather expected on Friday 5/13, Field Day will be moved to Wednesday, June 1st. For planning purposes, even if the forecast changes between now and Friday, we are changing the date. Please mark your calendars and plan to enjoy all of the FUN of Field Day on Wednesday, June 1st. Thanks. 😊

  • Summer Calendars by Grade Level

    Complete all three calendars for your grade level and bring them back the first day of school. All participants will have a popsicle party for working hard over the summer to stay sharp!

  • 2022 Summer Reading Challenge

    GCS wants students to keep reading over Summer Break! Rising PreK-12th grade students can record the minutes they read over the break and turn in a reading log to their school library media coordinator in the fall for an opportunity to earn a ticket to a Kersey Valley attraction.

  • Kids Heart Challenge

    Kids Heart Challenge kick off starts this week, 3/14 - 3/18! Your student will learn about heart, brain, and vascular health, and meet kids with special hearts! We are having a Grade Level challenge to see which class can win the Healthiest Kids Award and receive school supplies.

  • Black History Month Family Engagement Night - Spaghetti Dinner Images

    We celebrated the culmination of Black History Month by supplying all Simkins students with a spaghetti dinner “kit” to share with their family on Dr. George C. Simkins day—Thursday, February 24th. Each student was also given an activity book for families to work on together.  Check out the images HERE!

  • AG 101: Raising Awareness for Families Through AG Identification and Service

    Families of elementary students will be informed about the Academically Gifted (AG) identification process and tools used to measure aptitude and achievement. Families will also gain understanding about characteristics of gifted students and how to nurture those characteristics in and outside of the classroom. Finally, families will learn what AG service looks like in grades K - 5.

    Start with Hello is an initiative that teaches students the skills they need to reach out and include those who may be dealing with social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school.
