A Farewell Letter From Assistant Principal Mr. Barnett
To the Ben L. Smith Eagle Family,
As many of you know, I will be leaving Smith High School the week of January 6, 2020. During my tenure here these past four and a half years I have learned a great deal. I will always be grateful for the experiences I have had as a member of “The Great” B. L. Smith family. I thank you all for being a part of my story and aiding in my professional growth. I hope those of you I have worked alongside these past few years feel as though my time and efforts here have added some measure of value to this institution and the work we do to support our students. While I know I didn’t always get everything right, I always tried to give 100% effort in my daily work and to do what I felt was right. Though I am leaving the “nest,” I will always consider myself an “Eagle” and I vow to continue to advocate for this school in any and all ways that I can.
Since my decision to take a job closer to home in order to spend more time in my role as “dad” is a primary reason for leaving Smith, it seems fitting to leave you all with the words my wife and I tell our son each morning before we send him off to Kindergarten. Be kind…. work hard…. have fun!
