Alexis Gines-Hoyes earned her B.A. degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While reporting for a local newspaper and volunteering as a tutor for a local library, Mrs. Gines-Hoyes discovered a love for teaching. She earned her teacher certification, and has thoroughly enjoyed teaching English to high school students for 12 years. Mrs. Gines-Hoyes has had the opportunity to teach English Literature in India for a summer, attend a Geoffrey Chaucer Canterbury Tales summer education program in England, and participate in a cultural immersion program in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. She teaches Multicultural Literature, Honors English 11, and Advanced Placement English Language and Composition at the STEM Early College at N.C. A&T. Her extra-curricular positions have included advisor of Service-Learning Ambassadors, Multicultural/Study Abroad Club and Radio Club. Mrs. Gines-Hoyes is a National Board Certified Teacher, and is currently pursuing her M.A. degree in English with a concentration in Multicultural Literature. As a continual learner, Mrs. Gines-Hoyes is enjoying learning how to incorporate technology into her teaching and learning. Her hobbies include creative writing, traveling, reading and running.
