Principal's Weekly Message
PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Good evening, Colfax families! Here are your updates for this week!
Monday and Tuesday there is no school, Monday is a holiday and Tuesday is a teacher workday. We will see you all back Wednesday morning! This week we will continue administering our interim assessments to 3-5 students.
Please remember that due to classes having recess all over campus, both the bus gate and the car rider line gate is closed daily, if you need to come to campus you will need to park in the main lot and follow the sidewalk to the front door.
Starting last week, all students will receive a free breakfast and a lunch. If the student doesn’t want the lunch, they can decline the lunch and it will be discarded at the school. If you have any questions, please reach out. Please remember to fill an unbreakable, transparent water bottle with water each day, as water fountains are not in operation due to COVID.
Our car rider lines are getting better and better! Please remember pull all the way up as soon as it is safe to do so, don’t stop at the person, we will move with the line. The rear car rider line will close at the bell at 7:35, if you arrive after that you need to come to the front office. In the afternoon, please be at school no later than 2:15.
To help keep everyone safe, if you have any possible COVID symptoms or if you have been tested and are waiting for the test results, please keep your child at home. Also, if you cannot answer no to the attestation questions, please keep your child at home for everyone’s safety.
Valentine’s Day is approaching – please send any Valentine’s for the class no later than February 9th, so they can be stored safely until they are given out. Also understand that we cannot have any outside food, snacks or treats brought in for the whole class. A child may bring his/her own lunch to be consumed, but outside food cannot go home to other families. Thank you for understanding.
Applications for magnet schools opened January 14th. This year the Guilford County Schools Magnet/Choice Showcase will look a little different but will have just as many exciting opportunities for students as in years past. Students and their families can apply to one of more than 60 magnet and choice programs, more information can be found on the district website.
Finally, our annual yearbook cover contest has started. If your child would like to enter the contest, please read the guidelines in the email carefully and we look forward to seeing your submissions. Please call the front office with any questions and have a great rest of the evening!
Love, Mrs. Kimsey
