Principal Garcia's Weekly Message

Good evening, Viking Families,

I hope you've had a great weekend and are ready to begin week 8 tomorrow!

Here are several dates to note:

  • Monday, October 25th & Tuesday, October 26th are mandatory teacher workdays, which are non-student days, so please begin making arrangements for your child now if you have not already done so.
  • Monday, October 25th we will have a PTO family event at Sky Zone! You pay just $13 for 60 minutes of jumping and you can jump between the hours of 3:00 & 8:00 p.m. Most of the staff from Colfax will be present between 5:00 & 8:00 p.m.!

Here are several reminders:

  • If it is necessary to pick up your child prior to our regular dismissal time of 2:10, please make arrangements to do so before 1:40 p.m. This is in an effort to increase our safety protocols by reducing the number of changes at the end of the day, which can disrupt dismissal routines and increase the likelihood that mistakes are made. This also reduces the amount of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in our parking lot during a busy time of day.
  • If for some reason your child is taking longer than usual to exit the vehicle in the morning, please drive to the mailbox to keep the flow of traffic moving.
  • If you've not already done so, please send in the signed permission slip for photo/video/social media permission as soon as possible. Great things are happening at Colfax and we want to showcase it!
  • Don't forget to send in a jacket or sweater on these chilly mornings! Bonus points for having your child's name on the tag!

Finally, please know that our teachers are working overtime during a pandemic to help our children grow and succeed, and they are doing an amazing job every day! If at any point you have a concern regarding your child's teacher or a specific situation, please reach out to them to talk through it. I know the pandemic has limited our face-to-face interactions, but your child's teacher is easily accessible in other ways, just ask!

Have a great evening,

Principal Garcia
