Principal's Weekly Message

PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Hello Colfax Vikings!

Starting tomorrow, we will no longer require K-5 parents to complete the symptom attestation form or have temperature checks done in the car rider line or on the bus. We are continuing our handwashing and cleaning protocols along with wearing masks all day on campus. A link to the new guidance information will be included in the email. Pre-K students are still required to complete a screening. Please continue to monitor your child’s health at home and keep them home if they are not well. We are going to continue to be diligent in keeping our students and staff as safe as possible.

Most students received One Cards, a photo id, last week. These cards are used to check out books and ride the bus. If your child is a bus rider, please make sure they have their card every day.

This week is National Volunteer week and we celebrate our volunteers. Even though this year has been different, we still have wonderful volunteers who support Colfax!

Our PTO is looking for donations for staff appreciation week. Please see the link to the Sign-Up Genius in the email if you can help with a donation!

Remember that during arrival time, no walk ups are permitted from the parking lot, the only way students can arrive to school is by being a car or bus rider. If you arrive after the 7:35 bell, the car rider line gate will be closed, and you will need to park and walk up to the front door to sign your child in tardy.

Here are a few upcoming dates you need to know about! From the PTO, May 10th is our next Chick Fil-A day. Also, third though fifth End of Grade testing will begin Thursday, May 20th. It is very important that all students are present for testing. Friday, May 21st, Tuesday, May 25th and Thursday, May 27th will be asynchronous remote learning days for all students. We will test our remote students on those days.

Finally, do you or someone you know have a rising kindergartner at home? Kindergarten registration opened April 1st, so please visit www.gcsnc.com to register them for kindergarten.

Remember that all information is shared via a phone call, an email, on Facebook and posted on the Colfax website on the Principal’s Weekly Message page. Please call the front office with any questions and have a great rest of the evening!
