Principal's Weekly Message

PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Good evening, Colfax Vikings! Here are your updates for this week!

This week, starting Wednesday, we will begin administering the Beginning of Grade reading assessment to all third graders. This is a baseline assessment of reading levels. The 3rd grade teachers have shared information to parents.

As we work towards making both car rider lines move as quickly as possible, please help us out by pulling all the way forward, having your car rider tag properly displayed and having your child prepared to exit the vehicle. Don’t forget as well, to turn off the heat on cold mornings. Students may only exit and enter vehicles from the passenger side, for safety reasons. Please show a staff member the completed QR code and as soon as we take the temperature, they will be ready to enter the building.
For bus riders, don’t forget to take a screenshot before you submit, and show it to the driver the following morning. Bus rider temperatures are taken as students get off the bus.

Please remember that when we have a remote learning day due to inclement weather, students must log in to Canvas to complete any assignments, this is how attendance is taken. If students don’t log in and join a live session or complete and submit assignments, they will be marked absent.

We have had an update in our breakfast and lunch program, starting Monday, all students in attendance will receive a breakfast and a lunch. This is a federal requirement. If the student doesn’t want the lunch, they can decline the lunch and it will be discarded at the school. Breakfast and lunch is free until the end of the school year.
If you have any questions, please reach out.

Please remember to fill an unbreakable, transparent water bottle with water each day, as water fountains are not in operation due to COVID. Finally, this week we will start marking tardies. Students are tardy at 7:35. If you pull up to either car line and there are no staff members present, please ring the doorbell to sign your child in tardy. Thanks for your cooperation keeping students and staff safe! Please call the front office with any questions and have a great rest of the evening!
