GPA Keeps Families Reading During Read Across America Month
March 11, 2021– During Read Across America Month, Guilford Parent Academy (GPA) is honoring the importance of families reading diverse books together by giving away free books to schools.
Title I schools can receive up to 500 books for students to select for their home libraries, keeping them reading all year long.
“When children have books that interest them, they are more likely to develop a love of reading, literature and learning,” said Kimberly Funderburk, director of GPA. “We hope to provide children with access to books that are diverse and inclusive, just like our community.”
Families are also encouraged to check out the variety of eBooks available for free through GCS and local libraries.
Title I schools interested in requesting books should fill out this form: http://bit.ly/3bzgAmv. To learn more about this initiative and other GPA offerings, visit www.gcsnc.com, email parentacademy@gcsnc.com or call 336.279.4924.
