GPA Kicks Off College Planning Series by Helping Teens Find the Right School
Oct. 2, 2018 - High school students their parents joined together Monday to hear from National Speaker Mychal Wynn about how to sort through college and post-secondary options to find the right match. The Guilford Parent Academy (GPA) session was the first installment in GPA’s college planning workshop series.
Wynn provided authentic and practical advice, offering insight into what to look for and ask during campus visits, how to craft a college list and how to find the college that’s the right fit.
"This was definitely worth my time--very enlightening, informative and a true wake-up call for both myself and my daughter regarding what to expect with the college planning process," said Parent Na'tosha Brooks.
The college planning sessions are always some of the most popular GPA events as students and parents begin to prepare for what’s next after high school.
"Planning for college is always an exciting time for high school families,” said Gabriel Wiggins, GPA program administrator. “GPA is happy to assist in the process by giving families expert advice on navigating college admissions."
The next session in the series will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Bennett College and will cover financial aid basics, college costs, scholarships, eligibility determination and specific programs for NC families. Learn more and register for the session here.
