College Hopefuls Gather for Final Installment of GPA’s College Planning Series

Nov. 9, 2018 - Applying for college can be an overwhelming process. As a child of poverty and the first in his family to attend college, Mychal Wynn understands the stress it may bring families--and he delivered a powerful message for students and parents during GPA’s popular college planning workshop series.

The session, which wrapped up the series for the semester, covered the application process from start to finish. Known for his authenticity and ability to "keep it real," Wynn didn’t hold back Thursday. He offered practical advice for students and their parents, explaining the competitiveness of college admissions and ways students can know if a college is the right fit.

“These presentations have completely changed how we are approaching our college search and planning,” said Julia Denton, a parent participant.

The college planning sessions are always some of the most popular GPA events as students and parents begin to prepare for what’s next after high school.

“These college planning sessions are always relevant, and parents continue to seek our office for resources,” said Gabriel Wiggins, interim director of GPA.
