Our Mission:
Our Mission is to provide services adding value and improvement in support of Guilford County School’s business practices. The procurement team is committed to acting, in accordance with best practices, as a leader among service providers, recognized for innovative and high-quality, cost-effective approaches to meeting and exceeding our internal and external customers' expectations.
Our Vision:
Our Vision is to conduct all purchasing activities according to applicable laws, rules & regulations of good purchasing practices and professional principals. We will establish a practical degree of standardization of equipment, supplies & materials, with reasonable allowance for varying requirements of the school/department served. We vow to encourage fair and open competition by legitimate and ethical means & obtain, whenever feasible, favorable prices through volume buying. We extend honest, courteous and impartial treatment, along with fair and equal opportunity to all interested and qualified suppliers to which we require satisfactory and proper performance of all contractual obligations from all vendors.
Guilford County Schools is one of multiple North Carolina entities that belong to the Carolina's Association of Governmental Purchasing. The CAGP has supported public procurement professionals in North and South Carolina through a variety of educational and networking programs and opportunities. In 2000, the CAGP came up with the Sustained Professional Purchasing Award (SPPA) which is presented annually and recognizes all member agencies who have demonstrated sustained excellence in purchasing standards during the calendar year. The award is based on an agency's use of technology, minority outreach, staff certification, customer training and use of recycled products. Since its inception, the Guilford County Schools Purchasing Department, one of only several agencies in the association to receive this award, is also the ONLY North Carolina entity to receive the award each year!!!
