$10K SIGNING BONUS FOR TEACHERS NEWLY HIRED TO GCS FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR PRIOR TO OCTOBER 1, 2023
ALL SUBJECT AREAS
- Licensure Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold an initial or continuing NC Professional Educator's license
- Eligible Sites: One of the 25 Priority Schools (apply to specific schools listed below)
- Employment Commitment: Must serve a 2-year commitment
Priority Schools: Andrews High, Bessemer Elementary, Brightwood Elementary, Cone Elementary, Dudley High, Eastern High, Falkener Elementary, Foust Elementary, Gillespie Park Elementary, Hairston Middle, High Point Central High, Jackson Middle, Northeast High, Northeast Middle, Oak Hill Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Rankin Elementary, Sedgefield Elementary, Simkins Elementary, Smith High, Southern High, Vandalia Elementary, Washington Elementary, Welborn Middle, and Wiley Elementary.
OR
MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL MATH OR SCIENCE
- Licensure Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold an initial or continuing NC Professional Educator's license
- Eligible Sites: Any district middle or high school
- Employment Commitment: Must serve a 2-year commitment
OR
EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN (GENERAL OR ADAPTED CURRICULUM TEACHER)
- Licensure Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold an initial or continuing NC Professional Educator's license
- Eligible Sites: Any school in the district
- Employment Commitment: Must serve a 2-year commitment
OR
CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION HARD-TO-FILL POSITIONS
- Licensure Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid NC teaching license
- Eligible Sites: Any district high school with a vacancy in one of the eligible positions
- Eligible Positions:
- Information Technology - Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computer/Network Engineering
- Healthcare - Nursing
- Aviation
- Employment Commitment:
- Must remain in hard to fill CTE position
- Must agree to join a NC licensure program in Career & Technical Education (CTE) within six months of employment
- Must serve a 2-year commitment
Additional Yearly Stipend:
- CTE teachers who meet the bonus requirements and remain in hard-to-fill CTE position (identified by district) will receive a yearly stipend of $4000
$20K SIGNING BONUS FOR TEACHERS NEWLY HIRED TO GCS FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR PRIOR TO OCTOBER 1, 2023
HIGH SCHOOL MATH/SCIENCE/ENGLISH, KINDERGARTEN - 8TH GRADE CORE SUBJECT TEACHERS (MATH, SCIENCE, READING, SOCIAL STUDIES), ELL (ESOL) AND EC (GENERAL AND ADAPTED CURRICULUM)
- Licensure Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold an initial or continuing NC Professional Educator's license
- Eligible Sites: Any school in the district
- Employment Commitment: Must serve a 3-year commitment
- Teacher Effectiveness:
- NC teachers must provide 2 years of ‘Exceeds Expected Growth’ data as shown by EVAAS ‘Student Growth Measure’ from school years 2016-2017 forward OR
- Out-of-state teachers must provide comparable student growth data as evidenced by standardized state testing results within the same time frame as above (submit documentation of data to GCS HR for verification and bonus approval
*Newly hired teachers may qualify for at most 1 signing bonus.
*Candidates returning to GCS must have at least a 6-month service gap before becoming bonus eligible.
*End date of bonus offering subject to extension.
