Kindness for King: Service Learning Project

Our Foust Family and select community partners were asked to help participate by purchasing and providing toiletries to help individuals who receive services from the International Resource Center. After supplies were purchased our weekly incentive store was stocked with items such as: soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, wash cloths, deodorant, water, lotion and moist wipes. Students were able to purchase items with their tickets during lunch  to donate to those in need at the IRC. Those items were then sorted and placed by students in Ziploc bags to donate to the IRC.

During guidance and media for the week students were able to write notes of encouragement to put in our toiletry bags. To finalize our project 3rd and 4th grade students were able to pack the bags and get them ready for delivery.

This week in guidance kids learned about Martin Luther King by using the activities and fun facts listed in this PowerPoint. Also, during the morning announcements daily trivia about Martin Luther King and information about why serving others is important were featured.

After our Service Learning Project Foust Elementary was able to donate over 34 large toiletry bags.
