Virginia Brown is January GCS Volunteer of the Month

Jan. 10, 2020 – As Virginia Brown walked into her grandson’s classroom to volunteer, she was greeted with students and classroom teachers cheering and chanting “I love you” as she was recognized as the district’s Volunteer of the Month.

Ms. Brown has been a consistent volunteer at Erwin Montessori for the past 3 years. She has volunteered in each of her grandsons’ classrooms since he started attending Erwin Montessori and has maintained relationships with each of his former teachers as she continues to support their classrooms. Ms. Brown currently volunteers in the “Can Do” classroom where she has made a tremendous impact. “Ms. Brown is loyal and reliable. She will do whatever is needed to help our students learn the content being taught in our classroom,” says Diana Liinangi, co-teacher at Erwin Montessori.

Ms. Brown recently gifted the first grade “Can Do” classroom with handmade toboggans for all its students and teachers. “Ms. Brown’s faithfulness to our classroom allows us to not lack for anything that is needed to promote preparation for each school day. We love Ms. Brown and are blessed to have her frequent support in our classroom,” says Karen Wallace, first grade teacher at Erwin Montessori.

As the GCS Volunteer of the Month, Ms. Brown was presented with a $50 Visa gift card courtesy of Rice Toyota. During the month of January, her photo will hang at the district’s central offices, Erwin Montessori, and Rice Toyota Collision Center on Battleground Ave.
