Board of Education Sends Policy Proposal Out for Public Comment
November 14, 2023 – The Guilford County Board of Education Policy Committee voted to send the following policies out for public comment.
The proposed revision to policies 3300 and 3301 which relate to School Calendar and Time for Learning and the School Day includes recommended content updates for school calendar development to be consistent with the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) recommendations and to incorporate content related to instructional time.
The repeal of Policy 3301 is recommended because the revision to Policy 3300 replaces this content, which was last revised in 1993.
Policy 5050/7550 has been revised to cross-list the policy in the Personnel section of the manual and to align policy language to the NCSBA model. The updated content includes a reference to the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements for leave, make-up time and pay for employees when emergency schedule changes occur.
The public can submit feedback on the policy revision for 30 days by sending an email to boardclerck@gcsnc.com. The Board of Education will consider the revision at its January meeting.
