GCS RECOGNIZED AS “BEST OF THE BEST” IN STATEWIDE COMMUNICATIONS

Greensboro, N.C. – Guilford County Schools received statewide recognition for the work they do to share the stories of their schools and students. The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) held its Blue Ribbon Awards Brunch in High Point Friday to recognize school districts around the state for outstanding and effective communication.

GCS received 45 Blue Ribbon Awards – 18 of which are Gold Awards, the highest number received by any school district in the state. The district also earned two Best of the Best awards, which recognize the top entries in each of the eight categories the organization awards. One is in the Digital Media Engagement category for its 2023 Black History Month social media campaign, and one is in the Electronic Media category for a video about the Notes for Notes studio at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts.

“We are very excited that the hard work of our team was recognized and celebrated,” said Dr. Tracey Lewis, Chief Communications Officer for GCS. “Our priority is to be the best communicators we can be to tell the story of why Guilford County Schools is the best place to learn, work and grow.”

Valerie Newton, NCSPRA President and Director of Communication and Family Engagement for Sampson County Schools, said the work of the award winners exemplifies the high standards of the North Carolina School Public Relations Association and the outstanding work of its members. “We are extremely proud of the work being done by NCSPRA members across the state, and the Blue Ribbon Award winners have demonstrated excellence in all facets of communication. Their expertise and professionalism in the field of communications highlight the superior work being done by North Carolina public schools, and their accomplishments deserve recognition. I congratulate all of our winners for the outstanding work they do to support students and teachers and promote public education.”
