Northern High Student Named National Merit Scholar

June 7, 2024 – Guilford County Schools (GCS) has added another National Merit Scholar from the Class of 2024.

Aaric Gray, a senior from Northern High, has received a National Merit Scholarship from the University of Oklahoma. Aaric is planning to study music.

“From my very first interactions with Aaric, he has shown himself to be a conscientious student and a focused and determined young musician,” says Kiyoshi Carter, band director at Northern High. “His passion, intelligence and good nature are evident in everything that he participates in and brings joy to those around him.”

Aaric is one of more than 2,900 students nationwide to receive a college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship. He joins Dishita Agarwal, a graduate from the Early College at Guilford, who received a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Aaric and Dishita were among the 16 semi-finalists from GCS announced in September.

Additional college-sponsored National Merit Scholars will be announced on July 15.
