GCS Choice Application Window Opens Earlier
September 9, 2024 – The Guilford County Schools (GCS) Choice Application Window will open earlier this year.
The application window for Choice Schools and Programs will open on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and close on Friday, Nov. 22. The change gives parents additional time to explore GCS choice and neighborhood options and be notified sooner of their application status.
GCS will feature 48 choice schools and more than 60 elementary, middle and high school programs that prepare students for future jobs. All will be on display at the district’s annual Choice Showcase, including several new programs, such as the Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School. Hairston Middle’s Innovative Sciences program, Foust Gaming and Robotics and Peck Expeditionary Learning will also return to the showcase floor.
GCS is a nationwide leader in choice schools. Schools and programs are designed based on research, best practices, student and family input, and feedback from employers who help the district understand the kinds of professionals they’ll need. In addition to the showcase, families can tour schools they are interested in on Oct. 22, Oct. 29 and Nov. 12.
The Choice Showcase is Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center. Information about choice school programs and the application process can be found here.
