AG Coordinator is Employee of the Month

Greensboro, N.C. – Guilford County Schools staff understands the importance of providing our students with equitable and engaging learning opportunities, including instruction for academically gifted students. The district’s Academically Gifted Department serves more than 12,000 students in grades K-12, with various opportunities available for rigorous advanced coursework.

One of the passionate staff members helping bring learning opportunities to our students is none other than AG Coordinator Dee Jordan. A dedicated Guilford County Schools employee, Jordan has served in various roles across the district, including classroom educator, counselor and testing coordinator.

“Dee has dedicated an impressive 32 years to serving the students and teachers of GCS and will be retiring on October 31, 2024,” says Social Studies Coordinator Tia Thompson. “Her unwavering passion and determination ensure that all students have access to equitable and engaging learning opportunities. Dee’s commitment inspires those around her to strive for excellence. Colleagues who have had the privilege of working alongside Dee recognize her fierce advocacy for underrepresented African American males. Her extensive knowledge and heartfelt approach to serving our district have empowered many, resulting in improved life outcomes for both students and teachers. Dee's dedication to her work is evident, and she continuously sets high standards for herself and others. Her impact on GCS is profound, making her a deserving candidate for Employee of the Month.”

Entering a room full of colleagues and loved ones via video chat, Jordan was surprised with the title of Guilford County Schools’ Employee of the Month for October. As she prepares to retire, she will leave behind a legacy of advocacy for our students and a commitment to her colleagues, inspiring those around her to strive for excellence.

Jordan received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees. During the month of October, her photo will be displayed at the district’s central offices and in the Greensboro Jaycees office.
