District Shares Revised Traditional Calendars for Public Comment

April 9, 2019 – The Board of Education is reconsidering the traditional academic calendars for 2019-20 and 2020-21, which were approved on Feb. 28. The revised calendars, which add back one day of instruction for students, are now posted for a 14-day public comment period.

View the proposed calendars by clicking on the links below:

One day on each calendar was changed from a mandated workday to a student day – Jan. 22, 2020, on the 2019-20 calendar and Oct. 27, 2020, on the 2020-21 calendar. This will provide students with more instructional hours, while also restoring a work day for transportation and school food service staff.

Also Tuesday, the board released several non-traditional academic calendars for a 30-day public comment period. The calendars can be viewed by clicking on the links below:

Middle and early college calendars are developed in alignment with the GCS traditional academic calendar and with the appropriate college calendar for that school. Collegiate calendars for the 2020-21 academic year are not yet available at Greensboro College, Guilford College and UNCG, so GCS calendars for the high schools on those campuses have not yet been developed.
