Important Information

The following are announcements for the week of 3/29/2020

We have contacted parents who have students who need to pick up their laptops asap. We have a limited number of laptops available for students- we are now sharing our laptops with other schools who do not have technology, so it is important that laptops are picked up asap so that they can be reallocated if not needed by our students. Families who have been contacted to pick up laptops may do so from 10-2 in the car rider line in the parking lot. Do not come into the building, we will bring the tablets to you. If you are having trouble with your device, call Technology Services at 336.370.8179.  WGMS parking lot is a hotspot- please feel free to use it as needed- remember to distance socially! Please be sure that your child logs into each of their classes each day so that they can access their assignments. This is very important so that students retain the information they have learned this year and stay on track academically.

The WGMS office is closed through April 16th. if you need assistance from WGMS, call 3363165833 from 8-4.

We will continue to serve meals from the cafeteria parking lot Monday-Friday this week from 11-12- come out and pick up grab and go lunch and a breakfast for the next day. Buses will also deliver between 11am-12pm to:

* River Birch

* Westview Valley

* Silver Briar

They will blow the horn when it's in the neighborhood.

On Friday, Backpack beginnings will provide food for the weekend for students who come in for grab and go meals.

The general helpline number for parents, students, employees and members of the public is: 336-332-7290.

The GCS student crisis (non-emergency) number is 336-332-7295. These hotlines are open M-F from 7am- 7pm.

Remember that we love our Tigers, please remember to wash your hands, stay home, read, and be well- Have a great week!

The following are announcements for the week of 3/22/2020

Teacher-created assignments, videos and materials will be available for students starting Monday, March 23, through Canvas, our distance learning platform. We want to thank all educators for making these enrichment and extended learning opportunities possible!

Instructions for parents and students are posted on the homepage our website at https://www.gcsnc.com/. Click on the Canvas Parent Guide

Students are encouraged to log on each day to access materials, get assignments and connect with their teachers.

Please be patient as students, staff and parents use the system in large numbers for the first time ever on Monday and throughout the week. Despite all the detailed planning and hard work, expect some glitches – this is new for all of us!

If you need a laptop and have not done so already, please contact the office at
(336)316-5833 or email Ms. Robertson at robertb4@gcsnc.com.  We are contacting families to inform them of when they can pick up their laptops by appointment beginning on Monday. Please do not come to pick up a laptop until you are contacted that it is ready for you.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

In addition to distributing lunch and breakfast at WGMS each day from 11-12  for all K-12 students,  we are distributing “backpack” meals each Friday prepared by community agencies, so students and their families have food to eat each weekend. Special thanks to Backpack Beginnings, who contribute for WGMS.

WGMS is open to the public from 10:00-2:00 each day. If you need assistance for any reason, please contact the front desk at 3363165833 before coming for an appointment.

The registration forms for rising 7th and 8th graders will be on Canvas tomorrow. Only those students who have not met with the counselor should complete. Fill out top have and encore section only. Forms due by Friday, April 3. Also, for AG parents of rising 9th graders, the transition to HS letter is available to read on webpage under Parents, AG Parent information.

Please know that our WGMS staff misses our Tigers greatly!  We wish you good health and safety- please take care!
