Dr. Angela Draper provides support and supervision for 13 elementary schools as the Learning Area 3 School Support Officer. She facilitates collaboration between Area 3 principals and leads with a focus on equity and an enthusiasm for engaging and excellent education offered within a context of high expectations.
Dr. Draper joined Guilford County Schools in 2017 as the principal of Waldo C. Falkener, Sr. Elementary School where she successfully implemented the Opportunity Culture Model which allowed all students to have access to high impact educators. She was also an elementary school principal in Syracuse City Schools from 2013-2015.
Before becoming a principal, Dr. Draper actively engaged families and communities as a No Child Left Behind Specialist and supported turnaround efforts as a Title I Coordinator. She has an extensive instructional background as a former Literacy Coach and Dean of Instruction. Dr. Draper has taught 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades in the early stages of her educational career. She also spent two years on a Naval Base in Rota, Spain teaching first grade in a Department of Defense Education Activity school where her husband was stationed.
Dr. Draper holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Africana Studies from Tennessee State University, a master’s degree in the Art of Teaching and a doctoral degree in Leadership and Professional Practices from Trevecca Nazarene University.
